Section 2: Case Study 2: Insufficient Air Pressure

Release Date:

2024-11-28

A KIMAIR air compressor at a certain factory experienced insufficient air pressure during operation, causing the pneumatic tools on the production line to malfunction. The maintenance team promptly intervened and conducted a comprehensive inspection of the compressor. The technicians inspected the air filter and found it severely clogged, resulting in inadequate intake airflow. They replaced the air filter and cleaned the intake piping to ensure unobstructed air intake. However, the low-pressure issue persisted. Next, the technicians examined the compressor’s air valve and discovered that its sealing performance had deteriorated, leading to gas leakage. They disassembled the valve and found that the sealing ring was worn and needed replacement. The technicians installed a new sealing ring and reassembled the valve, ensuring proper sealing. Despite these measures, the pressure problem was still not fully resolved. The technicians then inspected the compressor’s cylinder and found that the piston rings were severely worn, causing internal gas leakage. They replaced the piston rings and conducted a cylinder leak test to confirm that there were no internal leaks. After restarting the compressor, the air pressure gradually returned to normal, and the pneumatic tools on the production line resumed normal operation. To prevent similar issues from recurring, the maintenance team recommended that the factory conduct regular inspections and replacements of the air filter, air valve sealing rings, and piston rings to ensure the compressor operates properly.

A KIMAIR air compressor at a certain factory experienced insufficient air pressure during operation, causing the pneumatic tools on the production line to malfunction. The maintenance team promptly intervened and conducted a comprehensive inspection of the compressor.

The maintenance team inspected the air filter and found it severely clogged, resulting in insufficient intake airflow. They replaced the air filter with a new one and cleaned the intake duct to ensure unobstructed airflow. However, the air pressure issue persisted.

Next, the maintenance personnel inspected the compressor’s gas valve and found that its sealing performance had deteriorated, resulting in gas leakage. They disassembled the valve and discovered that the sealing ring was worn and needed to be replaced. The technicians installed a new sealing ring and reassembled the valve, ensuring that it now provides reliable sealing.

Nevertheless, the air-pressure issue remained unresolved. Maintenance personnel conducted a further inspection of the compressor’s cylinders and discovered severe wear on the piston rings, resulting in internal gas leakage. They replaced the piston rings and performed a cylinder leak test to ensure there were no leaks inside the cylinders.

After the compressor was restarted, the air pressure gradually returned to normal, and the pneumatic tools on the production line resumed normal operation. To prevent similar issues from recurring, maintenance personnel recommend that the factory conduct regular inspections and replacements of the air filters, air valve seals, and piston rings to ensure the compressor operates properly.
